Kamal Koria

Kamal is a midland based professional artist with a successful career that spans over 30 years.
His practice has made a significant difference to commercial arts of South Asia and across the continents. During his career as a graphic artist he has helped to launch Bhangra in UK public eye and as a Fine Art Illustrator his artworks of Asian Wedding invitations and Diwali cards have become iconic within the industry. Kamal has recently stepped away from the commercial market to concentrate on developing a fine art collection to encase all his skills, techniques, ideas and experiences. These works act as a visual biography for his artistic achievements.

In celebration of Ganesh Chaturth festival this exhibition combines together the two most important symbols within Hinduism, Ganesha and Aum. The works poetically captures the symbolic elements used to depict Lord Ganesha's tremendous wisdom and presence of mind and amalgamates the sacred mantra of Aum, believed to embody the essence of the entire universe. The paintings are contemporary interpretations, distorting the viewers original perception of the traditional images.

This exhibition will also be an opportunity to preview Kamal’s new collections. This exquisite collection captures the feeling of individuals reaching for new horizons and reflecting on past. His representations portray his vibrant and colorful experiences of rural India and in contrast depict the bleak environment which surrounds him today. This essence of conflicting thoughts will subtly question the viewers perception.
