2007 sees the 60th year since the Partition of India. I won't call it an 'Anniversary' because that implies an occasion to celebrate. The Partition was an enforced journey undertaken by millions of people never knowing when or if they were ever to return. It is a human tragedy of epic proportions with stories of torture, killing and rape; but also stories of compassion, kindness and hope. Kala Kahani, Man Mela Theatre under the skillful direction of Director Dominic Rai, Leicestershire Library Services and literature development officer Dr Kerry Featherstone are all working in partnership to bring the issues surrounding Partition to the forefront to provide a forum for discussion, forgiveness and acceptance.
