Children's Stories
Over the duration of the three storytelling programmes we have had some amazing stories written by our participants. Eventually they will be collated into a small publication and distributed free of charge. The stories have proved really popular on a local radio station that we hae a slot on at the end of every block of storytelling classes. Here is a selection.....
Friendship Lasts Forever
In the jungle the animals were waking up and rustling the leaves, some animals were still sleeping peacefully. The monkeys were chattering and swinging everywhere. The big round fat elephant was just wanderng through the jungle. The cool handsome stripey zebras were just lying in the hot sun. The two best friends in the jungle was the Cheeky monkey and Rani the elephant. The Cheeky monkey would climb up mango trees and get the big fat juicy mangoes for Rani the elephant, and Rani would pull down the colourful yellow and green banana's for the Cheeky monkey with her long stretchy trunk. They would sit and enjoy their food like their very own picnic, then Rani would give the Cheeky monkey a ride on her back, then they would splash around in the cool lake together, as they walked through the jungle Cheeky monkey would tickle Rani with his long hairy tail and Rani would laugh. Rani and Cheeky monkey played all day together until sunset.
One day as they walked through the jungle, singing and dancing together, Rani did not see what she stepped on, suddenly she cried out in pain 'ttrrruuummmpppppphhhhh.....!' Rani had stepped on a big prickly thorn and it was stuck in her big grey foot, she fell on the floor in pain, crying and becoming weaker from the midday sun. Cheeky monkey was so upset to see his friend like this, then out of the corner of his eye he saw some big velvety banana leaves. He rushed over and snatched the leaves from the tree and quickly chewed them up. He placed the leaves onto Rani's big chubby foot and slowly the thorn, which was as sharp as a spear started to come out. In no time at all it popped out and Rani didn't feel a thing! Rani slowly opened her eyes and smiled at Cheeky monkey 'Thank you' she sighed. Cheeky monkey yelled 'Thats what friends are for!' Rani lifted Cheeky monkey high upon her back and said 'tonight we shall have a treat of banana's and mangoes for tea because you are such a good friend.'
