Andreas
hears a compelling melody as he was buying bread and cheese on the island.
After following the sound of the flute through unknown streets, he sees a man.
Andreas: Fancy
you being here!
He was sure it was the man he had met in Rialto,
as he played the same winding melody but he wasn’t.
Andreas: Sorry…
Flute Player: Hey you, just a minute!
The
man got him, but Andreas pulled out of his grab, and started running while
trying to find the way back to the fish market. He went anywhere, getting lost
in the way. He would start to tire and try to check if the man was following
him. He had ran to the edge of the town, not knowing where the fish market was.
He was extremely frightened. He soon realised he was running alongside a wall,
seeing a door he went in. There
was no one in the house as he crept with alertness. But suddenly he saw an old
man, and at 1st glance he knew he was blind, but looked like he saw
everything.
Old man: Come here, lad
He crept forward.
Old man: Go.
Hide. I won’t tell anyone. Can you see where I mean?
The door rattled and Andreas instantly knew it was
the flute player. In panic, he
looked around to find a hiding place, noticing a stone over a hole smelling of
olives.
Old man: Go, my boy. Go
He hid. The flute player entered.
Old man: What do you want?
Flute Player: A thousand apologies for intruding
on you in this way. May San Parasceva and the Archangel Raphael guide you
through the darkness of your life. A boy came this way, where did he go? Do you
hear me old man?
Old man: I
have seen no one.
Flute Player: I helped myself to some of your
wine, cheese and bread. I’m sure you don’t mind (sarcastic).
Old man:
My house is your house…
The flute player sat on a
large upturned amphora and played the evil flute tune.
